Honeycomb Drainage Cells — shallow geocellular for SuDS attenuation & infiltration

Near-surface storage, conveyance and load distribution beneath permeable pavements and landscapes—cut excavation depth and manage runoff on SuDS and blue-green roof schemes.

Benefits Of Shallow Geocellular Cells For SuDS Attenuation & Permeable Paving

Near-surface geocellular modules that replace deep aggregate sub-bases, carry traffic loads and control runoff at source with high void ratio and proven flow performance.

Structural capacity

Traffic-rated capacity — Vertical ≥800 kN/m² (max ~1,330 kN/m²) and lateral ≥200 kN/m² (max ~400 kN/m²) with correct cover and confinement.

Fast assembly

Fast, secure installation — 8-direction build with 12 interlocks for positive locking; factory pre-panels ≥9 m² shorten programmes and QA.

Proven hydraulics

Proven hydraulics — >52% perforated intake and tested flow 50.2–94.2 L·s⁻¹·m⁻² (0–2% gradient) for reliable shallow conveyance.

Flexible stacking

Flexible stack design — height extenders and lap pieces enable stacks up to 20 layers for shallow or deep envelopes.

Pre-assembled panels (≥9 m²) — factory-built mats delivered to site to reduce labour time and improve QA consistency.

Applications For SuDS, Permeable Paving & Blue-Green Infrastructure

Use the shallow geocellular layer as a load-bearing sub-base that can detain, infiltrate or convey runoff across roads, plazas, podiums, sports fields and green-roof schemes.

Shallow geocellular sub-base replacement under permeable paving for heavy traffic loads

Roads & heavy parking — shallow SuDS sub-base

Shallow geocellular raft (up to 95% void) replaces deep aggregate and detains / infiltrates / conveys runoff under traffic.

Blue-green roof drainage layer on podium deck enabling passive irrigation for vegetation

Roofs — podium decks & blue-green roofs

Lightweight roof sub-base that stores water and irrigates planting via passive capillary wicking—no pumps.

Load-bearing root protection system creating uncompacted soil volume for urban trees

Tree pits & root-friendly pavements

Load-bearing, ventilated raft that keeps pavements flat and delivers self-irrigation to healthy street trees.

Shallow subsurface drainage blanket under sports turf for rapid stormwater conveyance

Sports & turf — fast lateral through-flow

Lightweight, shallow sub-base giving uniform surface-wide drainage to keep pitches playable during storms.

Installation guide (shallow geocellular SuDS layer)

Infiltration (into subgrade), detention (lined), or blue-green roof with passive wicking.

  • Excavate
Excavate a shallow trench or raft to the design footprint, allowing for wrap and surface build-up. Keep sides neat for edge confinement..
  • Prepare the wrap (pick one)
Infiltration — line the excavation with permeable geotextile; lap joints to prevent soil ingress.
Detention / conveyance — install a watertight membrane (geomembrane); protect with fleece; form penetrations for inlets/outlets.
  • Assemble the raft
Place pre-assembled panels (≥ 9 m²) or modules; lock with 12 interlocks; the system builds in 8 directions to navigate corners and services. Connect inlets, outlets and inspection points.
  • Wrap, backfill & reinstate
Fold and seal the wrap; place protection/cover layers; reinstate the surface. Verify cover and edge confinement and record as-built photos.
