Shallow Geocellular Attenuation Tank: The Structural Sub-base Replacement System

Replace traditional aggregate with high-void (95%) interlocking modules. Ideal for permeable paving, podium decks, and blue-green roofs with limited cover depth.

Benefits of ultra shallow stormwater mamagement

95% void ratio

Maximises storage in ultra-shallow build-ups.

85–250 mm module heights

Ultra-shallow to medium depth

1000 × 500 mm module plan

Standard footprint for fast layout

Up to 30% less excavation

Reduce dig, spoil and haulage versus

Clip-lock shear connectors

Maintains shear continuity and lateral restraint under traffic loads

Protects Buried Utilities

Shallow installation avoids conflict with existing underground pipes and cables, reducing utility diversion costs.

What is Shallow Attenuation ?

High-strength 150mm geocellular attenuation tank module with 95% void ratio for shallow drainage

Our Shallow Attenuation Tank creates a high-strength structural raft that replaces traditional aggregate sub-base. It allows for source control stormwater management directly beneath permeable block paving or porous asphalt, eliminating the need for deep excavation.

Applications

Permeable block paving installed over shallow geocellular attenuation tank sub-base for traffic load support

Permeable Paving Sub-base

Acts as a structural raft to replace aggregate beneath permeable block paving and porous asphalt. Handles heavy traffic loads with minimal settlement.

Shallow geocellular stormwater storage system installed under urban plaza hardscape avoiding deep excavation

Urban Plazas & Hardscapes

High-strength storage for pedestrian and emergency vehicle areas. Installs easily around shallow utilities in crowded urban centers.

Shallow green roof drainage layer on podium deck protecting waterproofing and storing rainwater

Blue-Green Roofs & Podiums

Ultra-shallow green roof drainage layer. Protects waterproofing on podium decks while providing high-capacity attenuation in limited depths.

Subsurface irrigation and drainage system beneath sports turf using attenuation crates

Sports Pitches & Soft Landscapes

Invisible drainage and attenuation beneath natural or artificial turf. Keeps surfaces dry and playable without deep trenching.

Installation guide

  • Prepare Subgrade
Excavate to design level and compact the formation. Ensure the subgrade meets the required CBR (California Bearing Ratio) to support the structural raft.
  • Lining Strategy
For Infiltration: Line with non-woven geotextile to allow groundwater recharge.
For Attenuation: Seal with impermeable geomembrane to create a watertight tank.
  •  Install Tank Modules
Place Shallow Attenuation Tank modules. Secure with clip-lock connectors to form a monolithic, high-strength structural raft that resists lateral movement.
  • Connect & CloseInstall
Inlets, outlets, and inspection ports. Wrap the system completely with the specified geosynthetics (geotextile or geomembrane) to prevent silt ingress.
  • Surface Finish
Place the bedding layer directly on the tank, followed by permeable block paving, porous asphalt, or concrete finish.
